GE 5KS513DAJ6026 – GE's Ultra™ WPI VHS motors are high-performance electric motors available with 2, 4, or 6 poles. These motors boast NEMA Premium efficiency and are suitable for 60 Hz applications (de-rated at 50 Hz). They feature a NEMA Design B frequency and have received UL and CSA approvals. Features

The Wolong GE Ultra™ and Ultra+™ Vertical Hollow Shaft (WPI) motors are Weather Protection Type I (WPI) designs that deliver premium efficiency, reliability, and robust performance in demanding vertical pump applications. Built for long-lasting operation and ease of maintenance, these motors are engineered to meet or exceed NEMA Premium efficiency standards while providing flexibility for various industrial power and voltage requirements.

The Ultra™ WPI VHS model is available from 5 to 1750 horsepower, while the Ultra+™ WPI VHS covers 10 to 1750 horsepower. Both models are offered in 2-, 4-, and 6-pole configurations and operate at 60 Hz (de-rated at 50 Hz as noted on the nameplate). The available voltage options include 230/460V, 460V, 460 PWS, 575V, and 2300/4000V, with the Ultra™ model offering additional voltages up to 4160V. Both are designed to NEMA Design B characteristics, though select Ultra+™ ratings meet Design A specifications.

Each motor carries UL Component and Insulation System Recognition and CSA certification for motors, confirming compliance with North American standards. They are rated for operation in ambient temperatures up to 40°C and at altitudes up to 3300 feet, maintaining dependable performance in a wide range of conditions.

The motors are precisely balanced to 0.075 inches per second (IPS) to ensure smooth and vibration-free operation. Bearing caps are included as standard, and shaft slingers are used on both ends for enhanced bearing protection. Both versions use high thrust and extra-high thrust bearings suitable for vertical applications, with cast iron conduit boxes, end shields, and frames providing exceptional strength and durability.

The coupling system includes a non-reverse ratchet type, available as standard, self-release, or bolted depending on the installation requirements. The end shields and fasteners are SAE-grade cast iron, ensuring long-term mechanical reliability. The frame sizes range from 213–5011 for the Ultra™ and 213–5813 for the Ultra+™.

Both models feature Polyrex EM grease lubrication for guide and 213–286 frame thrust bearings, and ISO 32, 64, or 150 oil lubrication for thrust bearings from 324–449 (Ultra™) or up to 509 (Ultra+™). Brass bolts are used on both the frame and within the conduit box to prevent corrosion and ensure secure grounding.

The motors use Class H insulation with the GEGARD2400 insulation system, providing non-hygroscopic and anti-fungal protection. The insulation is designed to withstand 2400 volts at 0.1 microsecond rise time and exceeds NEMA MG1-31 standards for VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) operation, ensuring excellent inverter-duty performance and long service life.

The inverter capabilities support variable torque operation from 5–60 Hz, with the inverter system integrated directly into the endshield. The lifting means are integral to the endshield, and both models use a vertical P-base mounting configuration. Each motor is equipped with a stainless steel nameplate for durable identification.

The paint finish is grey epoxyester, providing excellent protection against corrosion. The rotor is cast aluminum, and the top hat is cast aluminum as well. Both models are equipped with relubrication fittings and have a service factor of 1.15 for added performance margin.

The Ultra+™ WPI VHS model includes bearing fluting protection for enhanced reliability in inverter applications. It incorporates shaft grounding features, with Aegis SGR rings on the drive end (DE) for motors between 10 and 100 HP, and both Aegis SGR on the DE and insulated bearing carriers on the opposite drive end (ODE) for 125 HP and higher. Additionally, NC winding thermostats are included in Ultra+™ models for thermal protection, while the standard Ultra™ does not include thermostats.

Both models include a 115V, 60 Hz space heater to prevent moisture buildup during idle periods and are designed for a temperature rise of 80°C at 1.0 service factor. Each unit undergoes NEMA routine testing to verify mechanical and electrical performance and is rated for continuous duty (S1) operation.

Every Ultra™ and Ultra+™ WPI VHS motor is backed by a warranty of 36 months from the date of installation or 42 months from the date of manufacture, whichever occurs first, ensuring long-term dependability and peace of mind in critical vertical applications.
